Adopt-A-Book Program for our precious children at risk. For seventeen years, Mary Scheidegger, an independent representative of Usborne Books at Home, has coordinated special events and programs to ensure that children in need or at risk in our community receive the gift of books throughout the year... and at Christmas-time especially. By supporting various programs such as read-a-thons, literacy fairs and adopt-a-book programs thousands of dollars of Usborne books have been distributed to non-profit organizations and children’s centres throughout the Shuswap, including the S.A.F.E. house, Shuswap Family Resource Centre, Mount Ida School, various preschools/daycares, School District 83, Food/Toy Bank, Province Empty Stocking Fund and more...
Yes, you can make a difference! Once again, the BookLady's Adopt-a-Book program is working with the S.A.F.E. house, specifically the Children Who Witness Abuse program, to help brighten the days and enrich the lives of some of our most vulnerable children. A carefully chosen selection of books is ready to be ordered… and all we need now is your support. Please take a moment to consider what you can do to help. Mary donates all commissions straight back to project, and the company she represents Usborne Books at Home provides a percentage in free books. This means that for every dollar contributed by you converts to about $1.40 in purchasing power. The final date to make a donation to this project is Thursday November 15th. Delivery of the books to the S.A.F.E. house will be early in December... just in time for annual Christmas gathering for the children and their families. More information about how you or your business can help promote literacy and get books in the hands of children is available here www.BookLady.ca. I succeed |
