Books-for-All (formerly Adopt-A-Book) Program for all our precious children

Help spread the love of reading this Christmas ~ and for a lifetime ~ to children at risk.

In the true spirit of giving, and with the desire to reach out to our precious children, the people of Salmon Arm are making a difference again this Christmas.

Through this, and similar programs, thousands and thousands of dollars of Usborne books have been distributed to non-profit organizations and children’s centres throughout the Shuswap, including the S.A.F.E. house, Shuswap Family Resource Centre, Mount Ida School, various preschools/daycares, School District 83, Food/Toy Bank, Province Empty Stocking Fund and more...

A selection of Usborne books has been chosen for the children, and so now it's up to individuals and businesses to “Adopt-a-Book” (or several). For every dollar collected about $1.40 goes towards this worthy project. More information can be found at www.BookLady.ca/ForTheKids

  This Christmas, as in many Christmas' past (since 2004), we are soliciting corporate and individual pledges towards book donations to the S.A.F.E. Society and the Children Who Witness Abuse program
  
  
• Autumn 2011 In partnership with Dakshina Yoga Studio and Literacy Alliance of the Shuswap Society more than $1,100 of books will be enjoyed by families in our community through some of the various programs offered by the Shuswap Family Resource Center
  
  
• November 2010 More than $1,300+ in books to the S.A.F.E. Society and the Children Who Witness Abuse program
  
  
• October 3, 2010
  Two large boxes of gently used Usborne books are on their way to Mumbai, India via "Let It Be" L.I.B. International and the Wockhardt Foundation.
  
  
• September 28, 2010
  We are proud to partner with the Literacy Alliance of the Shuswap Society to launch a "Books for Babies" program in January 2011. Every baby born in the Shuswap Lake General Hospital will go home with their very own Usborne touchy-feely Book.

  More than $700 books donated to the Shuswap Family Resource Center and the F.O.R.C.E. a non-profit society supporting, educating and advocating on behalf of families of children with mental health challenges.
